Alaska Cultural Standards

The Cultural Standards for Alaska Students provide guidance on how to engage students in learning through the local culture. Alaska adopted these standards for students, educators, curriculum, schools. and communities in 1998.

Local level Arts, Culture, Technology (ACT) Standards were adopted by SSD School Board on May 5, 2014.

SSD Scope & Sequence

We are excited to share that the cultural scope and sequence for the upcoming 2023-2024 school year is currently undergoing revisions. Thanks to the generous funding from the SNEP in Schools grant, which is supported by the Sitka Tribe of Alaska, the Sitka School District has the wonderful opportunity to implement a culturally sustaining scope and sequence from PreK to 12th grade. We are dedicated to creating an educational experience that celebrates and values our local place. We invite you to check back regularly for updates on our progress.
