What is SNEP? Sitka Native Education Program was founded in 1974 and continues today to cultivate Haa Kusteeyí (our way of life) and Lingít Yoo X´atángi (Lingít language) for students in preschool through 12th grade.

SNEP After School
The Sitka Native Education Program (SNEP) is an after school cultural program, focusing on teaching kindergarteners through 12th graders the Lingít culture. The mission of SNEP is to perpetuate Lingít Yoo X'atángi and Haa Kusteeyí (Lingít language and way of life) by providing cultural instruction to our youth after school.

SNEP in School
Sitka Native Education Program (SNEP) in Schools is a grant-funded initiative administered by the Sitka Tribe of Alaska, in collaboration with the Sitka School District. This strategic partnership aims to enhance educational outcomes for Alaska Native students by delivering a culturally sustaining education within the Sitka School District. Through this program, we are dedicated to fostering an inclusive and empowering learning environment that respects and celebrates Alaska Native culture, history, and traditions. By aligning educational practices with cultural values, SNEP in School seeks to create meaningful and equitable educational experiences that promote the academic success and cultural well-being of Alaska Native students in Sitka.
